Rock Mills was in fact a thriving community with the Mill, a distillery, store and school. In 1940 he river jumped its old bay and ran down the mill race, obliterating all traces of the race. This left room to put a road under the cliff, which is Rt. 626 today and gave rise to legal claims of boundaries along the River.
