From May 20, 1982, Carson Johnson was being sued by Mary Edna Schaeffer and others to prevent his building of an auto repair business in Sperryville. A beauty pageant had been held to raise money for the Sperryville Rescue Squad. From 1993, Jim Clark IV was one of the grand prize winners at a science fair, and county democrats honored buster Keyser, Ed Bailey, and Howard Butler.
