Blue Ridge Guide Sperryville News 1923

Identifier: 2017.1.297
Description:
Transcription of Sperryville News Column taken from the March 8, 1923 issue of the Blue Ridge Guide. Colonel Menefee had installed a Crossley Transcontinental radio in his home in Sperryville. On Saturday he and others listened to the orchestra at the Waldorf Astoria in New York playing dance music and on Sunday his house was filled with people listening to "what is with no doubt one of the most wonderful inventions ever made." There they heard an old time revivalist in Greensboro, NC and a service by the Cavalry Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, PA.
