Description: 1932 Blue Ridge Guide article; Bits of History. At the corner of Porter and Main, Menefee's Stable and a mile post once stood. The stable had been built by Robert N. Bruce. Washington Clark had a hotel called the Long House which burnt down, severely burning Mr. Clark. He recovered and built a new building on the same site. At the time of the article that property was owned by a Mr. Jenkins.
