Description: Twelve year old A. P. Settles was crushed to death hauling a load of apples to Front Royal with his father. He slipped under the rear wheel and the wagon drawing twenty barrels of apples ran over him. He was operated on at the Hospital at the Remount Station, but the doctors were unable to save him. He was the son of Preston B. & Alice Gooch Settle.
