Description: Article on the Hazel River Navigation Company, a proposed canal system in the 1840s which would have linked Rappahannock County to Brandy Station. The canal suffered a major setback from a flood in 1852, but the plan was made pretty much obsolete by the extension of rail service between Alexandra and Culpeper in 1853.
