Description: Martin, a slave, the property of Francis Burgess, accused of striking, stabbing, and thrusting with a knife, the abdomen and breast of Martha, also a slave of Francis Burgess, leaving a mortal wound in the breast 2 inches wide and 5 inches deep. He was to be punished with sale or transportation outside of the United States and was valued at $800.
