Description: John W. Swindler Captain, William Nash, Preston Martin, and Henderson Manuel, privates, assigned to patrol the Washington and Sperryville districts for 3 months, visiting their bounds at least once a week.They were to visit negro quarters and other places suspected of having unlawful assemblages and to stop slaves strolling from one plantation to anther without permission of their owners. Those captured were to be taken to the nearest justice. When under warrant to search for firearms or weapons, they had permission to force open doors of free Negroes or slave quarters.
