Description: Eliza Brown with George and Elizabeth (Libbie) Custer, ca 1865
Eliza, a slave on a Rappahannock Co. farm, met Custer when he was camped at Amissville in July 1863 following the Battle of Gettysburg. She became his cook and servant and traveled west with the Custers following the Civil War
